WASHINGTON (Reuters) -U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris has accepted an invite from CNN to take part in one other debate in opposition to Donald Trump on Oct. 23 and urges her Republican rival to face her lower than two weeks forward of the Nov. 5 presidential election, the Democratic candidate’s marketing campaign mentioned on Saturday.
“Vice President Harris is prepared for one more alternative to share a stage with Donald Trump, and he or she has accepted CNN’s invitation to a debate on October 23. Donald Trump should not have any drawback agreeing to this debate,” Jen O’Malley Dillon, the chair of the Harris marketing campaign, mentioned in a press release.
Requested about Harris’ acceptance of the CNN invitation, a Trump spokesperson referred to the Republican former president’s prior statements that there could be no extra debates.
Harris and Trump debated one another for the primary time on Sept. 10, in a contest that polls confirmed was gained by the Democratic nominee.
Trump final week mentioned he wouldn’t take part in one other debate in opposition to Harris earlier than the election.
